My first time to Serenbe and I am completely blown away. This exquisite community embodies the values of yesteryear while still being close to Atlanta.
In the thick of complete Holiday madness, I called it quits.
I just stuck my heels in the ground-er slash keyboard- and said: “NOPE, I need to get out of here.”
You see, I had been burning the flame on all sides and needed a digital detox, so I headed down to Serenbe to indulge in their laid-back lifestyle and some equestrian therapy.
Equestrian therapy > shopping therapy in my opinion.

Growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, I never truly considered myself a city girl per se and I never considered myself a country girl.
Even if all I did was spend hours at the barn, isolated from humans and teenage responsibility, I enjoyed the mix of bustling suburb life and relaxing country life.
After moving to Atlanta almost two years ago, my dreams of living the city life were fulfilled whenever I got to walk to a new restaurant and I even sold my car.
But after the three crazy months leading up to the Holidays, my soul was calling for some retreat so I booked the long overdue visit to Serenbe.
I woke up that morning bouncing with joy because I was finally going to be able to go horseback riding. As you may not know, I used to ride competitively in college and after college, and have been away from riding for almost 5 years now. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning waking up to a pony in her driveway when I finally got to indulge in a little Serenbe trail ride.
If riding horses isn’t your thing, you can guarantee you’ll find some other four-legged creatures to entertain you, like Baxter the goat and the curious sheep that took over the trails!
We had worked up quite an appetite so we quickly rushed over to Blue Eyed Daisy, one of the many restaurants on the property that offers sustainably farmed fresh meals for anyone who walks in their door. As soon as you cross the threshold, the smell of butter and baking cookies drifts around you and my eyes soon were taking over orders for my stomach.
After fueling up, we were able to jot over to the shops to explore the unique boutiques they have on the property. My favorite has to be Hey Hamlin, a well-curated shop that has tons of cute clothes, accessories and knick-knacks.
I didn’t want to leave without one last visit to the stables.
I’m glad we did because the staircase to the hayloft in the center is what barn dreams are made of.
I cannot believe that it’s taken me such a long time to get down to Serenbe for an afternoon away but this one was just what the doctor ordered for my digital detox.
