Sustainability & Style Come Together

Emmy award-winner Danny Seo builds first naturally house at Serenbe

Danny Seo, Emmy award-winning TV personality and publisher of Naturally, Danny Seo, has been visiting Serenbe for years, so when he came up with the idea to build a Naturally House the Serenbe team jumped right in.

“As a longtime friend of Serenbe who values sustainability as much as we do, it was a natural fit,” said Monica Olsen, VP of Serenbe Marketing. “His love of the land and nature perfectly aligns with the Nygren family vision.”

Built in Serenbe’s newest neighborhood Mado, which is specifically dedicated to the ideas and practices of health and wellness, this modern home features environmentally-friendly building concepts and design throughout.

The Naturally House was constructed with vertical cedar wood planks and finished with an 18th century Japanese wood preservation technique called shou sugi ban. It is EarthCraft certified, has geothermal heating and cooling and uses smart thermostats and healthy building materials throughout the home.

It is a true Serenbe project, with residents touching each part of the process from architectural design to interior finishes. The four bedroom, four and a half bath house was designed by Steve Dray and Cecilia Winston of Serenbe Planning and Design, built by Lucas Barry and interiors are by Rebecca Cartwright of R. Cartwright Design.

The project is extra special for Rebecca, who was charged with choosing a beneficiary. She chose the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of her grandson Jack and son Spencer.

Just over a year ago, Jack, her oldest son’s child, was diagnosed at 1 year old. Thanks to the great care of nurses and doctors at LA Children’s Hospital, he was successfully treated and is now a thriving 2-year-old. Twenty-seven years before Jack’s diagnosis, her youngest son Spencer was born with a form of leukemia and Down syndrome. He too was treated successfully, and one of his doctors even established treatment protocols that were used by the lead doctor caring for Jack. The LLS’s mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. It is her hope that through their work, other families will not have to go through what her’s did.

So Rebecca, along with everyone on the Naturally House project, are ready to celebrate their work because the house is complete! The Naturally House Party is Thursday, October 4 at 7pm, and Danny Seo is pulling out all the stops.

All guests will get to “Shop The House” and take home a goodie bag (worth over $300!) of his favorite wellness products including beauty creams, nutrients, natural cleaning products, a wine tumbler and much more. And of course it wouldn’t be a party without fantastic music from Mayhayley’s Grave, food from Jenn-Air and drinks featuring Farmers Gin.

And don’t forget to tune into NBC every Saturday at 9am to see Danny, host of Naturally, Danny Seo. Season 3 was filmed in Serenbe and premieres on Saturday, October 6!

The Naturally House is sponsored by Kohler, Wilson Art, Jenn-Air, Benjamin Moore, Room and Board, Westwood Wine, Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, Pentair and more.
