Festival Season

Serenbe’s spring blooms & scenic views make for a perfect festival backdrop

Grab your flower crowns and ready your best Maypole dance, because Serenbe’s annual May Day Festival, a celebration of art and spring, is Sunday, May 5!

The annual artist festival in Serenbe began in 2006, just one year after the first residents moved in, and pays homage not only to arts and culture, but to Steve Nygren’s history. He grew up in a farming community in Colorado that was founded by his Swedish ancestors, who have celebrated May Day for centuries.

That first year, a few hundred people came to Serenbe for the day. Now, a few thousand spend sunny Sunday afternoons indulging in fantastical fun amongst nature.

Local and regional artists line the streets with their handmade and home made items and there’s a section dedicated just to kids sponsored by Acton Academy and Chatt Hills Charter School. Live music this year is by Luis Alas y La Calle Ocho Funk, and there are plenty of opportunities for kids and kids at heart to make their own art.

Serenbe Playhouse needs help painting a bus for their summer production of HAIR, Jack Michael, who turns trash to treasure, will have an interactive artist space and other day-of surprises will be throughout the festival space.

Don’t miss the Creature Comforts Biergarten, or pick up a Cinco de Mayo margarita at The Farmhouse Bar!

Serenbe May Day Festival is Sunday, May 5, 2019, from 12-5pm in Selborne. Pre-purchase tickets here, $5/person, to avoid long lines. All proceeds benefit the Art Farm at Serenbe.
