Always Designing with Mister and Mrs. Sharp

Creating Beautiful Spaces In The Neighborhood And Beyond

Serenbe and the Atlanta area’s design duo Mister and Mrs. Sharp (otherwise known as Meghan and Patrick) are certainly dedicated to their craft. What is that craft, you ask? Interior design is what they do, but they would describe themselves and “editors” when it comes to creating spaces. The Sharp’s want you to love where you live, so their mission is to give you that “I can’t believe I live here” feeling when you walk into your home. They have mastered the art of interior design and shared their journey with us on this week’s episode of Serenbe Stories podcast. Listen in on the conversation with Meghan and Patrick, where they discuss how they discovered the neighborhood, why they made the move and how they started their business, Mister and Mrs Sharp

The Sharp’s first discovered Serenbe on the cover of Cottage Living Magazine, not knowing that they’d one day reside and start their business here. Originally living in Midtown Atlanta, a friend called and asked them to visit his neighborhood right outside of the city. As soon as they visited, the Sharp’s say they immediately fell in love with Serenbe. This led to their first town home in Grange, but have since then become “serial flippers”, purchasing homes and filling each space with beautifully-curated looks, eventually leading to the start of Mister and Mrs. Sharp as a business. “I joke that we moved here because of the trash can placement, but we didn't really...we were pleasantly surprised by how loving and open and welcoming the community was, and we never experienced a neighborhood where the people were so genuine and gracious. And welcoming! I mean, I think from the first day we moved in, everyone was ‘welcome to the neighborhood, can I do something for you?’”, says Meghan. After purchasing the townhome in Grange, they moved to San Fransisco, although most of their time was spent on Serenbe’s real estate website gazing at each new home put up for sale. There was one particular modern 3-story home surrounded by trees that caught their attention, becoming the catalyst for their move back to Serenbe. This gorgeous modern in the Selborne neighborhood soon became their second Serenbe home full of clean colors, a modern aesthetic and gorgeous finishes and fixtures to tie everything together. This house was also the catalyst for launching their design business. A few things led to their success, the first step was realizing their talents when their real estate agent in San Fransisco kept receiving questions on who the designer of their previous home was. From here, the seed of the idea was born. They decided to move back to Serenbe, design their space in this stunning modern home in the woods, and actually landed their first client from an instagram post of their space. The Sharp’s then got involved with picking out finishes for the builders in Serenbe, which is now a huge part of their business today. Since then, Meghan and Patrick have worked with builders and individual clients, receiving a ton of love on social media and print magazines, including Rue Magazine, Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, and Design Milk.

What’s special about the Sharp’s is their ability to work together in life and in their business. When asked in their Serenbe Stories interview how it is living and working together, Patricks says, “most of the time we feel very fortunate. So we can disagree on certain decisions, but we've kinda gotten into a rhythm of leaning into each other's strengths and personalities. We divide and conquer all the time, so if you hire Mister & Mrs. Sharp, you might get more of Mrs. Sharp, that kind of thing”. Meghan agrees, saying, “and our strengths kind of weigh each other, you know, balance each other out. What he's good at I'm not so good at and vice versa. So we...it's really nice to have a friend to bounce ideas off of and to help elevate any sort of concepts. So we might start at one level, and then we may challenge each other to take it to the next level. Or how do we make it even better? Or is there something that we're missing. So that second eye is really really nice to have, and it does really help the client too because they have the benefit of that. Or that challenge to make it even better, so ya that part is good.”

Meghan says this house definitely isn’t their last in Serenbe but they’re planning on staying in their current place for a few years, unless another stunning home catches their eye sooner. As for the business, they are thrilled to work on two very large custom homes that are coming up, as well as finishing up furnishing a home in Mado. And as always, they are dedicated to creating your ideal living space, where you can thrive in a beautiful space.
